Method and device for thermal regeneration of particulate filters on combustion engines with a catalytic burner

The method involves producing an exothermic output of a catalytic burner during flow of exhaust gas in catalytic active flow channels (2). The exothermic output of the catalytic burner is supplied to a downstream particulate filter. A part of the heat present in an outlet area of an oxidation catalytic converter (1) is utilized by heat transfer for increasing the temperature in an inlet area of the oxidation catalytic converter, where the heat transfer takes place within the oxidation catalytic converter. An independent claim is also included for a device for thermal regeneration of particulate filters on an internal combustion engine, comprising a device for introducing hydrocarbons into exhaust gas.
