<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical compensation sheet, which has no unevenness and satisfactory alignment characteristics, with high productivity, and to provide the optical compensation sheet manufactured by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical compensation sheet includes: an application step of applying a liquid composition containing two or more liquid crystalline compounds different in structure on a substrate; and a heat treatment step of heating the substrate applied with the liquid crystal composition. The heat treatment step includes: a first heat treatment step of holding the liquid crystal composition at T<SB>1</SB>that is above nematic isotropic phase transition temperature T<SB>iso</SB>for at least 20 seconds; and a second heat treatment step of performing the heat treatment at T<SB>2</SB>that is less than T<SB>iso</SB>, after the first heat treatment step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
