<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid vehicle drive unit which is reduced in length of rotation axis direction and is favorable for downsizing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hybrid vehicle drive unit 1A comprises: a first planetary gear train 14; a second planetary gear train 20; and a counter drive gear 8 connecting the first planetary gear train 14 and the second planetary gear train 20: wherein two planetary gear trains 14, 20 are arranged concentrically and adjacently each other; the counter drive gear 8 is arranged concentrically with these planetary gear trains 14, 20 and outside in the diametrical direction of these planetary gear trains 14, 20; a carrier 24 of the second planetary gear train 20 has a junction 24a, which is arranged between the planetary gear trains 14, 20 and extends outside in the diametrical direction to connect to the inner peripheral surface of the counter drive gear 8; and a ring gear 22 of the second planetary gear train 20 has a fixed part 22a fixed to a case 13, the ring gear protruding in the direction of a rotating axis line CL from the opposite side of the side the first planetary gear train 14 faces.
