<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine exhaust heat recovery system having high heat recovery efficiency and stably operated. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This exhaust heat recovery system (30) heating a medium to be heated using the exhaust heat of exhaust gas from an engine includes: a steam generating section (40) vaporizing a refrigerant by heating it by the exhaust gas; a heat exchanging section (54) heating the medium to be heated by exchanging heat between the vaporized refrigerant and the medium to be heated; a heating promoting section (52) having heat storage material brought into contact with the vaporized refrigerant; a condenser (60) liquefying the refrigerant vaporized with the steam generating section when the heat exchanging section does not perform heat exchange; refrigerant channels (42, 58, 62) circulating the refrigerant in the order of the steam generating section, heat promoting section, heat exchanging section, and condenser; and a refrigerant channel control means (31) controlling a refrigerant flow in the refrigerant channels so that the refrigerant flows only among the steam generating section, heat promoting section and heat exchanging section when the heat exchanging section performs heat exchange.
