<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press-forming apparatus and a press-forming method which are excellent in shape fixability and by which a press-formed article is obtained by preventing two-dimensional defects in shape such as angular variation caused by springback and three-dimensional defects in shape such as a ridge-line warpage (surface camber). Ž<P>SOLUTION: When press-forming a material to be worked such as a beam having a hat-shaped cross-sectional shape, by using a press-forming apparatus which is provided with a die-side pad which is arranged in the inside of a die and made movable in the pressurizing direction of the material to be worked and a punch-side pad which is arranged in the state where the pad is projected in the outside of the pressurizing surface of the punch and which can be forced in to the same height as the pressurizing surface of the punch, by performing press forming of the material to be worked between the die and the punch while pressing the die-side pad against the material to be worked in the state where the punch-side pad is projected to the outside of the pressurizing surface of the punch and the material to be worked is press-formed until the punch-side pad becomes the same height as the pressurizing surface of the punch at the bottom dead center of the forming.
