The device has a slidable shear arrangement (6) connected with a locomotive frame (1) at both external sides of a crash buffer (2). Rear shear arms (17) are articulately guided and fixedly arranged in an upper area over a hinge point (18) at the locomotive frame and in a lower area over a vertically movably guided linear bearing (19). A cross beam (12) of the shear arrangement is attached to a fixed structure of holders of a buffer plate of a hitting vehicle as a catch element during accident of the hitting vehicle.
