<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melt-spinning method and a melt-spinning apparatus giving a fine-denier filament yarn having a single fiber fineness of 0.3-1.5 dtex in an example, free from denier unevenness in longitudinal direction of the filament and avoiding the deterioration in operability caused by yarn breakage and fusion in the case of melt-spinning using a cylindrical cooling device to forcibly cool from the center part of the spinneret to the circumferential direction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An extruded thermoplastic polymer is cooled with the cylindrical cooling device satisfying following requirements (a) and (b), placed under the spinneret and forcibly cooling the polymer by blasting cooling air from the center part toward the circumferential direction of the spinneret, and an inert gas is released from the center of the spinneret through a gap between the cylindrical cooling device and the spinneret toward the spinneret face in the direction of the outer circumference of the spinneret. Requirements (a): the distance between the surface of the spinneret and the upper end of the cylindrical cooling device is 5-40 mm, requirement (b): the vertical length of the cylindrical cooling device is 10-50 cm.
