<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel polyimide which is colorless and transparent, and has excellent heat resistance and low linear expansion coefficient, and also to provide a method of producing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The polyimide includes a structural unit represented by formula (I). The method of producing the polyimide comprises: a step of reacting 1R, 2S, 4S, 5R-1,2,4,5-cyclohexanetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and bis(4-aminophenyl)terephthalate so as to obtain a polyamide acid; and a step of imidizing the polyamide acid.
