<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding apparatus which readily performs easy and proper bookbinding on a bundle of sheets. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The bookbinding apparatus is provided with: a sheet bundle thickness measuring part 40 including a movable plate 42 oppositely positioned to a fixing plate 41 which moves in accordance with the thickness of the bundle 93 of the sheets for binding; a bookbinding performing part 50 which performs the bookbinding-related process at the position predetermined for the process; an interlocking mechanism which changes the position for the process of the bookbinding performing part 50 in conjunction with the movement of the movable plate 42, to be more precise, the position for the process meaning the position of the folding streak 911 of the front cover sheet 91 and also the position of the back-lining board 35 wherein the edges of the base adhesive agent 920 are seen through.
