To address the need for new relay communications techniques that are able to increase communication rates, lower power consumption, and/or reduce interference, various embodiments are described. In some embodiments, a code rate is selected (901) to maximize a source-to-relay link capacity based on at least one resource constraint and a link quality between a source node and a relay node. Information encoded at the selected coding rate is then broadcast (902) to both a relay node and the destination node during a first coding interval. In some embodiments, the at least one resource constraint includes the amount of transmit power allocated to broadcasting the information. |
