The process comprises providing a laser beam (3) and an electrical arc (4) and then combining them with one another to strike simultaneously a site or a welding area, and melting the steel components (1) to be assembled. The steel component has a surface coating (2) having a thickness (E) of 30 mu m. The components have a thickness of 0.8-2.5 mm, and the deposits of the coating on the surface of one its lateral slices before its soldering. The arc is released by a tungsten welding electrode (5), and is formed at the end of a fusible link.
