<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency vehicle approach detection system for vehicles allowing execution of approach recognition of an emergency vehicle without a problem without depending on communication, and allowing proper execution of driving guidance or recognition support related to approach thereof. <P>SOLUTION: In the emergency vehicle approach detection system for vehicles, microphones 15 are installed in different positions on a vehicle, and an approach direction of the emergency vehicle is specified based on a difference in a phase or volume of siren sound extracted by each microphone 15 to properly perform driving support or the recognition support of the emergency vehicle corresponding to the approach direction. Because detecting the approach direction by directly capturing the siren sound propagating in the air by the microphones, communication infrastructure preparation is not needed, and the vehicular emergency vehicle approach detection system not affected by communication cutting-off or the like can be constructed at low costs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
