<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indication instrument for a vehicle having an improved appearance, capable of suppressing spring of a pointer to a reverse return-to-zero direction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The pointer 20 indicates a vehicle state value using a zero value as a reference corresponding to a rotation position, and returns to a zero position indicating the zero value by rotation to a return-to-zero direction. A step motor M drives rotatively the pointer 20 by application of a driving signal to a field winding 33. A stopper mechanism S stops the pointer 20 rotating to the return-to-zero direction on the zero position. A control unit stops the pointer 20 by the stopper mechanism S to cause forcible step-out of the step motor M by changing stepwise an electric angle relative to a return-to-zero driving signal which is a driving signal for driving rotatively the pointer 20 in the return-to-zero direction.
