<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for inspecting the state of an article to be inspected with high precision by irradiating the article to be inspected with light from a plurality of directions to inspect the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This article inspecting device includes a feed means composed of a pair of belt conveyors 9 and 9 arranged in parallel to each other and driving endless belts 11 and 13 as running parts in the same direction at different speeds and detectors A and B applying light to the fed article W to be inspected to detect the state of the article W to be inspected from the applied light. The detectors A and B are provided at different positions along the endless belts 11 and 13. The endless belts 11 and 13 of a pair of the belt conveyors 9 and 9 are arranged in an inverted truncated chevron shape and the article W to be inspected is fed while altered in its posture. Accordingly, since the postures of the article W to be inspected to which light is applied, for example, the postures of an onion in the detectors A and B are different, its side surfaces, to which light is applied are different.
