The method comprises areawisely joining two components (12, 14) of gear shaft with one another on joining area (18) to be welded and directing energy beam along a joining position forming through the two joining areas (18). The material of the components is melted on the joining area to be welded and forms a welding seam (16) through cooling. A stop position of the component is formed through two stop areas (24) distanced from one another as a pre-determined shrinking path of the welding seam in shrinking direction. The method comprises areawisely joining two components (12, 14) of gear shaft with one another on joining area (18) to be welded and directing energy beam along a joining position forming through the two joining areas (18).
