The adapter (2) has a cross bar (11) provided with an end-sided fastening finger (9), and a receiver opening (14) arranged in the cross bar for accommodation of a sleeve-like fastening part (15) of a cover (3). The cross bar has a tongue-like spring element (23) that radially cooperates with the sleeve-like fastening part of the cover. The spring element extends in a circumferential direction of the receiver opening in circular segment- or circular ring sections. The spring element is partially, radially stabilized by a support (25) in a direction of an axis (16) defined by the opening. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a cover for closing a flush-mounting socket (2) a flush-mounting socket comprising a connection space.
