METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING POLARIZER, POLARIZER, AND PROJECTION LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizer, for inexpensively manufacturing a polarizer having good transmissivity or extinction factor.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the polarizer 10 includes steps of: forming a bed film 121 including a metal on a transparent substrate 100; forming a silicon oxide part 127 including silicon oxide in a pattern complementary with a plurality of metal thin wires 101 on the bed film 121; forming a metal part 112 on the bed film 121 without forming the pattern of the silicon oxide part 127 by displacement plating with a metal nobler than the metal of the bed film 121; and removing the silicon oxide part 127 and the part in which the silicon oxide part 127 is formed in the bed film 121 to expose the transparent substrate 100 with the metal part 112.
