<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which has an inexpensive configuration with a small number of components and is capable of a two-dimensional scanning, and to provide an image recording apparatus which produces an excellent quality image even when recording by a reciprocal scanning by using the optical scanner. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical scanner two-dimensionally scans a laser light from a light source with a first oscillation mirror 10 which deflects the laser light in a vertical direction and a second oscillation mirror 20 which deflects the light from the first oscillation mirror 10 in a horizontal direction. In the optical scanner, the oscillation mirrors are driven so that the resonance frequency of one of the oscillation mirrors may become twice as large as the resonance frequency of the other oscillation mirror, both oscillation mirrors are so configured that the mirrors are respectively installed at the center of a beam both ends of which are fixed and oscillation plates having the same figure are used.
