PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera that informs a position of a detected main subject superimposed on an observation image obtained by an observation optical system. SOLUTION: The camera 1 includes: focusing information acquisition means 16, 101 (Fig.3) for acquiring the focusing information of a photo-optical system LS; a display means 6 for performing a display to indicate an area used for acquisition of the focusing information by the focusing information acquisition means 16, 101 (Fig.3), while being superimposed on the observation image obtained by the observation optical system LS; an image sensor 11 for acquiring a subject image; a subject detection means 101 (Fig.3) for detecting a main subject in the subject image on the basis of image data acquired by the image sensor 11; and a control means 110 for controlling a display means 6 (Fig.3), which performs the display to indicate the position of the main subject detected by the subject detection means 101 (Fig.3), so as to be superposed on the observation image.
