The invention comprises 6-nitro-dihydro-1,3-benzoxazine-2,4-diones of general formula <FORM:1003089/C2/1> wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl, alkenyl or halogen-substituted alkyl radical, and the preparation thereof, by nitrating a dihydro - 1,3 - benzoxazine - 2,4 - dione of formula <FORM:1003089/C2/2> and, if desired, when R in the product is hydrogen, treating it with an alkylating, alkenylating or halogen-substituted alkylating agent. The products are useful as pharmaceutical agents or intermediates therefor. 6 - Nitro - dihydro - 3 - (21 - acetoxyethyl) - 1,3 - benzoxazine-2,4-dione is obtainable by heating the corresponding 3,(21-chloroethyl) compound with sodium acetate in alcohol. |
