The aid has a signal processing device (13) accommodated in a housing (11). A LED (16) is arranged in the housing and serves for representing status of the signal processing device or electronic components. The LED is controlled by the signal processing device by impulse. The signal processing device controls brightness of the LED by corresponding pulse density or pulse width. The LED displays a current program of the signal processing device. A brightness sensor (17) acquires brightness of surrounding of the hearing aid.
