<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna system capable of controlling directivity in a variety of directions and communication equipment provided with the antenna system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The antenna system 20 is provided with a feed element 21 equipped with a feed conductor 21a comprising an almost linear conductor and a first parasitic element 22. The first parasitic element 22 is provided with: a parallel part 22a comprising an almost linear conductor almost in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the feed conductor part 21a; a vertical part 22b comprising an almost linear conductor whose one end is connected to the parallel part 22a and which is almost vertical to the longitudinal direction of the feed conductor 21a; a grounding part 22c comprising an almost linear conductor which has one end connected to the vertical part 22b and is almost vertical to the longitudinal direction of the feed conductor 21a; and a first variable reactance element 24 which has one end grounded and the other end connected to the other end of the grounding part.
