<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a conventional inexpensive inverter and a CCFL tube, and to make a liquid crystal television thinner without increasing cost by devising a shape and a connecting method of the inverter and the CCFL tube. <P>SOLUTION: In a backlight unit of a liquid crystal display device using a U-shaped CCFL tube, the inverter used for the CCFL tube is intensified on one side of the backlight unit, a lateral separation structure type (hereinafter referred to as "2in 1 type transformer") is used for the transformer for the inverter, an anode of the CCFL tube is connected to an electrode of a transformer of a winding order ++2in 1 type, a cathode of the U-shaped CCFL tube is connected to a transformer of a winding order --2in 1 type (hereinafter referred to as "--2in 1 type transformer"), and by generating a voltage of nearly 1,200 vrms and a voltage of nearly 7 mArms required for lighting the U-shaped CCFL tube, cold-cathode tubes of the same length are driven at lighting frequencies approximately 30 to 70 khz. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
