PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided to perform action mode conversion or preset operation according to movement of the mobile terminal through an acceleration sensor for measurement of gravitational acceleration direction, thereby controlling various actions. CONSTITUTION: A control unit enters into a first action mode(S300). The control unit controls an operation selected in the first action mode(S302). The control unit displays a screen of the first action mode to a first display unit(S304). If rotation of a main body is detected, the control unit enters into a second action mode(S306). The control unit controls an operation selected in the second action mode(S308,S310). The control unit displays a screen of the second action mode to the second display unit(S312).
