PURPOSE: An electrophoretic display device using an additional removing electrode and an operation method thereof are provided to add an electrode in order to enable an operation circuit to apply only one way bias, thereby simplifying the structure of the display device, reducing the costs and volume of the display device. CONSTITUTION: An electrophoretic display device using an additional removing electrode includes an upper substrate(211), a lower substrate(212), an upper displaying electrode(221), a lower displaying electrode(222), an upper removing electrode(223), a lower removing electrode(224), a display operating unit(281), a removal operating unit(282), and an electrophoretic cell(290). The lower substrate faces with the upper substrate. The upper displaying electrode is formed in the lower part of the upper substrate. The lower displaying electrode is formed on the upper part of the lower substrate. The upper removing electrode is located at the lower part of the upper displaying electrode. The lower removing electrode is located at the upper part of the lower displaying electrode. The display operating unit applies displaying voltage to the upper and the lower displaying electrode. The removal operating unit applies removing voltage to the upper and the lower removing electrode. The electrophoretic cell is included between the upper and the lower removing electrode. |
