<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for coating a carcass cord which has excellent loading durability in running under heavy loading, and a pneumatic tire using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for coating the carcass cord comprises, based on 100 pts.mass of a rubber component consisting of 100 mass% of natural rubber, 60-150 pts.mass of a carbon black having an iodine adsorption value of ≥82 mg/g and a dibutyl phthalate absorption value of ≥69 ml/100 g, and 8-20 pts.mass of zinc oxide.
