<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a change of an arrangement position in a sucker table of a reading device with easy work to improve convenience. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This checkout counter used in a one-person or multi-person sales form has: the sucker table 1 having a commodity reception face 11 on which a commodity is placed; a vertical type scanner 2 equipped slidably in a direction along a flow of commodity sales work on the commodity reception face 11 of the sucker table 1 or on a face nearly parallel to the commodity reception face 11, reading a bar code attached to the commodity; and an auxiliary member 3 provided such that it moves integrally with the vertical type scanner 2, projecting from an end face of the sucker table 1 in linking with movement of the vertical type scanner 2 to the upstream side in the flow of the commodity sales work to configure a nearly same plane as the commodity reception face 11.
