<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared ray radiation type imaging device which achieves high color reproducibility for color images. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the imaging device, an infrared-ray cut filter 5 is arranged at a cutting position, and an object is photographed under an imaging condition that the object is not irradiated with infrared rays from an infrared ray irradiation part 1 to generate visible light imaging signals which consist of visible light components. In addition, the infrared-ray cut filter 5 is arranged at a retracting position and the object is photographed under an imaging condition that the object is irradiated with infrared rays from the infrared ray irradiation part 1 to generate infrared ray mixture imaging signals which consist of both visible light components and infrared ray components. The infrared ray mixture imaging signals are separated into visible light operation imaging signals and infrared ray operation imaging signals based on the signal amount ratio of the visible light imaging signals and the infrared ray mixture imaging signals, and/or the difference between them. Then, the imaging device adjusts the color balance of the visible light operation imaging signals based on the visible light imaging signals to generate color-adjusted imaging signals, and performs imaging processing for the color-adjusted imaging signals and the infrared ray operation imaging signals to generate color image signals.
