<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ingot feeding apparatus which allows an ingot to be efficiently preheated and which attains improvement of casting quality and a large reduction in gas consumption amount. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The ingot feeding apparatus includes: a holding furnace 100 by which a ball ingot 10 is heated and melted by a heating section and held in a molten state; a chimney 200 for discharging smoke and heat of the heating section; a feeding path 300 which is spirally wound around the chimney and which guides the ball ingot 10 from the upper feeding section to the lower holding furnace 100; a first preheating section 400 which is installed in a part of the feeding path 300 and which preheats the ball ingot 10 to the first preheating temperature using remaining heat from the chimney 200; a second preheating section 500 which is installed in the chimney by penetrating from the feeding path 300 through the chimney 200 and which preheats the ball ingot 10 to a second preheating temperature using the exhaust heat inside the chimney; a put-in section 600 which puts in the ball ingot 10 from the second preheating section into the holding furnace 100 with a prescribed timing; and a control section 700 for controlling each of these units and sections.
