<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal compressor for actualizing highly efficient and stable operation under high-speed and high-pressure conditions by reducing instable fluid force generated in seals to prevent instable vibration of a rotor while suppressing leakage. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The centrifugal compressor, which compresses gas with the rotation of the rotor 4, comprises a casing 1, the rotor 4 rotatably provided in the casing 1 and having an impeller 3, the seals 12, 13, 14 provided in a clearance between the casing 1 and the rotor 4 for suppressing the leakage of fluid in the clearance from the high pressure side to the low pressure side. For example, the balance piston part seal 14 is constructed in such a manner that a damper seal portion having a plurality of holes in the seal surface and a labyrinth seal portion having an annular parallel groove are continuously provided.
