PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure water resistance of a functional component, such as, a current-applying portion, in a motor and pump apparatus whose motor shaft is set horizontal. SOLUTION: In the motor and pump apparatus, a shaft-supporting barrier 10 is interposed between the motor and pump housings 5, 6, and the shaft-supporting barrier holds an oil seal 20 on the pump-housing side and a cylindrical portion 18 on the motor-housing side. A bearing 26 for supporting a shaft 40 is held in a through-hole 19 of the cylindrical portion, and a sealing space S is formed between an opening end surface 50 and the oil seal 20. An impeller 60, whose wing is positioned in the pump housing, is coupled to the shaft 40 which extends from the bearing 26 to the oil seal 20. The sealing space S communicates with the outside, through a linear discharging passage D which opens in the lowermost portion of the seal space S. As a result, the water leaking from the oil seal 20 into the seal space S is discharged directly to the outside, without being injected into space where a current-applying portion, etc are installed.
