WATER PURIFICATION MATERIAL AND WATER PURIFICATION METHOD USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purification material and a water purification method using it which can adsorb especially phosphorus and metal, can dispense with a coagulant or reduce the amount of used coagulant and form magnetic flocs which can be operated by magnetism. SOLUTION: The water purification material includes magnetic particles carrying sulfate groups on the surface. Sulfates on the surface adsorb phosphorus and metal ions to enable formation of flocs even if a coagulant is not present. As the formed flocs include the magnetic particles, they can easily be collected by magnetism. The magnetic particles can be produced by mixing magnetic particles in a sulfate aqueous solution and stirring the solution. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
