PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a manufacturing method are provided to form grooves in a protective film between electrodes by etching at a predetermined height without voltage rise or a change of a structure, thereby improving transmission efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A data line crosses a gate line. A TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is formed in the intersection of the data line and the gate line. A protective film(120) protects the TFT. Pixel electrodes(140a,140b) are connected to the TFT. Common electrodes(150) and the pixel electrodes form an electric field. Grooves are formed in the protective film. One or more the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes is separated each other in a pixel area. The grooves are formed in the protective film between the electrodes.
