<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for stably manufacturing a metal band having a small surface roughness, capable of suppressing change of a surface roughness of a work roll even though an amount of oil introduced to a roll bite is small while preventing occurrence of seizure specifically when using the work roll having a reduced surface roughness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When cold rolling is carried out by using the work roll having an arithmetic average roughness of 0.05-0.4 μm on the surface thereof, rolling oil containing solid particles having an average particle diameter of 0.01-0.2 μm is cyclically used.
