PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make shorter than conventional the time required for positioning when executing positioning. SOLUTION: In this portable terminal, a positioning signal transmitted from an artificial satellite for positioning is received by a positioning signal reception part and orbit information on the artificial satellite included in the positioning signal is stored in a storage part. This portable terminal includes a control part for finding the expiration date of the orbit information stored in the storage part to cause the reception part to receive the positioning signal based on the expiration date of the orbit information, and causing updated orbit information included in the positioning signal to be stored in the storage part.
