<p>Disclosed is a caster with brake of a configuration that produces a braking force as a result of a brake shoe being caused to press against the side face of a wheel. A swivel caster comprises a wheel (4) rotatably supported by a supporting leg (2), and a vertically retractable pin (5) provided in a state of passing through an axle member (3). The retractable pin (5) is normally supported by a resilient member (12) in an upper limit position with the lower end portion thereof opposing a side face (4a) of the wheel (4). The middle portion of a pair of left and right brake arms (6, 6) is supported by the supporting leg (2) to be able to swing with the upper end portion thereof disposed to contact the retractable pin (5), and with the lower end portion thereof held by resilient members (8, 8) so as to maintain a fixed interval from the side face (4a) of the wheel (4). A lower end portion (5b) of the retractable pin (5) is formed with a taper of an angle that pushes open the upper end portion of the brake arms (6, 6), and an operating mechanism (10) for pressing the retractable pin (5) downward in a fixed stroke so as to cause the lower end portion of the brake arms (6, 6) to press against the side face (4a) of the wheel (4) is disposed in the upper portion of the retractable pin (5).</p> |
