PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that stabilizes an image having a plurality of continuous frames. SOLUTION: The method and a device for image stability wherein input image sequences including a plurality of frames are photographed, moving vectors at a frame level with regard to each frame are estimated, and regarding each frame, the moving vectors are adaptively integrated to provide moving vectors used for image stability, the duplication of reference images of frames is replaced with the corresponding adaptively integrated moving vectors. Since they are used for image compensation, the peripheral area of an image sensor is padded in a margin, a horizontal component and a vertical component are independently treated, a movement estimating circuit element associated with an MPEG-4 coder is used to compute the vector at a macro block level, and a histogram is used to compute a vector at a frame level corresponding to the frame.
