<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably perform photoelectric conversion without the effect of outside light. Ž<P>SOLUTION: If a finger 26 does not exist on a lightproof counter substrate 106, a backlight light 24, which is output from outside of a lightproof wall 102, is reflected by a reflecting film 104 and is photoelectrically converted as a reflected light 28 via a sensor TFT 100. If the finger exists, the counter substrate 106 and the reflecting film 104 are deformed by the upward force of the finger 26. Thereby, the backlight light is shielded by a lightproof wall 102, and photoelectric conversion is not performed via the sensor TFT 100. Accordingly, the output of photoelectric conversion/non-photoelectric conversion can be stably obtained without the effect of outside light, and the presence of the finger 26 can be is determined based on the output.
