<p>A chip resistor and a method of manufacturing the resistor are provided. The resistor at least comprises: an insulating substrate (1), a resistive layer (2) formed on at least one surface of the insulating substrate (1), a pair of upper electrode layers (3a, 3b) formed in contact with top surface of the ends of the resistive layer and top surface of the insulating substrate. The resistive layer (2) and the upper electrode layers (3a, 3b) are joined by metal-metal physical contact. The upper electrode layers are made of nickel or nickel-based alloys, whereby separation and chemical reaction between the metal layers can be avoided when the resistor is in use.</p> |
