摘要 Provided is a plasma display device including a front panel (20) having a protection layer (26) formed by a undercoat protection layer (26a) and a particle layer (26b). The undercoat protection layer (26a) is formed by a thin film of a metal oxide containing at least one of magnesium oxide, strontium oxide, calcium oxide, and barium oxide. The particle layer (26b) is formed by attaching monocrystal particles (27) of magnesium oxide to the undercoat protection layer (26a). The ratio of the peak of 200 nm to 300 nm against the peak of 300 nm to 550 nm of a cathode luminescence light emission spectrum of the magnesium oxide monocrystal particles is 2 or above. A panel drive circuit temporally arranges subfields so that the luminance weight value from the subfield performing the all-cell initialization to the subfield immediately before the subfield performing the next all-cell initialization decreases monotonously, thereby driving the panel.
