<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine which saves water and electricity by improving steam spraying efficiency during the drying process after washing, is space-saving, and can uniformly dry washed clothing by restraining the clothing from getting creased and roughened. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The washing and drying machine is provided with a water tank 5 arranged in a housing, a rotary tank 7 rotatably provided around a horizontal shaft in the water tank and washing laundry, a driving device 8 rotating the rotary tank, a water supply device 17 supplying washing water into the water tank, a drainage device 10 draining water from the water tank, a warm air supplying device 19 supplying warm air into the water tank through an air inlet 31 provided in the water tank, a circulating blast channel 29 connecting the water tank and the warm air supplying device, and a steam generator 35 supplying steam into the water tank, and supplies steam into the water tank by operating the steam generator during the drying process and controls the quantity of steam so as to increase it in accordance with the progress of the drying process when a steam mode operation is set.
