<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display capable of displaying a solid picture with high resolution and facilitating the manufacture, as well as, a surface light source suitable for the same. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display, a light-absorbing plate 9 and a prism sheet 10 with an incident surface 10a on which a plurality of thin and long prism parts 11 are arranged, in parallel with each other formed on an opposite side from an observation side of a liquid crystal display panel 1, are arranged with spaces between them, a surface light source 8 with a first and a second light source parts 13, 14 arranged which consist of a plurality of LEDs 13b, 14b with high directionality light distribution, respectively, and arranged in parallel in a length direction of the thin and long prism parts 11 on both end sides of the spaces, is arranged. A control means 17 enables to display an image datum for left eye and that for right eye, on each pixel of the liquid crystal display panel 1 sequentially and then enables emission of a light from the first light source part 13 on the left side, in synchronization with the display of the image datum for a left eye, and to emit light from the second light source part 14 on the right side, in synchronization with a display of the image datum for a right eye, as viewed from the observation side of the surface light source 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
