<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide band power amplifier capable of saving power and suppressing the character degradation in a transistor more than related techniques. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The wide band power amplifier includes a power amplifier 1; a negative feedback circuit 2, provided in between the input and the output of the power amplifier 1; a burst control circuit 3 for applying a burst-like voltage as a bias voltage to the input side or the output side of the power amplifier 1; and a bias control circuit 4 for reducing a surge voltage generated on the input side of the power amplifier 1, when the burst-like voltage is applied to the power amplifier 1.
