The method comprises producing a coil-like first winding (18) from a first winding structure (A), where an intermediate space (22) is formed between the coils (20) of the first winding structure, so that the side edges of the first winding structure do not mutually contact, producing a coil-like second winding from a second winding structure (B), so that the intermediate space formed between the coils of the first winding structure is partially filled by the second winding structure, and producing a coil-like third winding from a third winding structure (C). The side edges of the first and second winding structures adjacently contact to each other, and overlap themselves. The intermediate space is formed between the coils of the third winding structure. The side edge of the second winding structure overlaps the side edge of the first winding structure and an intermediate space is formed between the other side edges of the second and first winding structures. One of the side edge of the third winding structure and the other side edge of the first winding structure overlap themselves, and the other side of the third winding structure and the other side edge of the second winding structure adjacently contact to each other or overlap themselves. The fourth winding structure overlaps an adjacent region of the side edges of the second winding structure and sides edges of the third winding structure. An intermediate space is formed between the coils of the fourth winding structure. The winding structures (A, B, C, D) are constructed with threads, wrap of yarns and/or ribbon-like material, which comprises non-woven, felt, fabric and net-like material, and with a powdered- or resin-impregnated material, laminated material, cabled material, fiber-reinforced flexible plastic material or multi-component material. The side edges of the winding structures are connected with one another. The layers of the winding structures are bonded with one another and lie on each other, where the bonding takes place by needling, adhering or fusing. The fibrous material, granular material, powdered material, thread material and/or web-like material made of thermoplastic material are provided between the layers of the winding structures and/or on one of the winding structures uncovered by a further layer. An independent claim is included for an endless belt for a machine for the production of web material such as paper or cardboard.
