PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal for supporting VoIP and an operating method thereof are provided to perform the switching to a VoIP communication mode in a WLAN enable area and to use in the international roaming. CONSTITUTION: A CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) signal processor(130) processes a CDMA mobile communication signal in a CDMA communication mode. A VoIP(Voice Over Internet Protocol) signal processor(140) processes a WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) signal in the VoIP communication mode. A signal checking unit(113) checks reception of the CDMA mobile communication signal. When the WLAN signal is received, a controller(160) generates a control signal to operate the VoIP signal processor. A switching unit(120) selects the VoIP signal processor according to the control signal.
