The tool (10) i.e. flat and rigid rod, has a narrow part (14) and a wide part (16). The narrow part has a short lug (12) inclined with respect to the rod so that the lug is arranged so as to surround a flexible and resistant support cable (32) released from an axle (36) by supporting on an upper edge of the axle, by introducing the tool from bottom of a luminaire connection device (20), and the axle is pushed into a sleeve (34) to release the cable by pulling the device on the rod. The lug is presented in the form of claw. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an assembly of luminaire connection device and a releasing tool to release a support cable from the connection device, comprising a rigid and flat rod (2) a method for releasing a support cable locking system from a luminaire connection device using a releasing tool.
