<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcurrent warning device and method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The overcurrent warning device is installed in a power supply system to prevent an electric overcurrent. The device includes a current detection unit, a voltage comparison one, and a warning one. The current detection unit, which has a non-contact detection element connected to the circuit of the power supply system, detects a current value of the circuit and outputs a detection signal corresponding to the level of a circuit current. The voltage comparison unit compares the voltage value of the detection signal with the level of a preset voltage value and the warning unit generates a warning signal when the voltage value of the detection signal is larger than the preset voltage one.
