<p>A grommet in which an engagement recess for engagement with a vehicle body is adapted to be engaged with a through-hole in a vehicle body panel without being caught, allowing smooth insertion of the grommet into the through-hole. The grommet has an inner tube through which wires of a wire harness penetrate while being in close contact with the inner tube, and also has an outer tube connecting to the outer peripheral surface of the inner tube via an annular connection section and having a sloped wall section. The outer tube has a thick wall section connecting to the large-diameter end side of the sloped wall section so as to extend parallel to the direction of the axis of the outer tube. In the outer peripheral surface of the boundary between the thick wall section and the outer tube is provided the annular engagement recess for engagement with the vehicle body. On the outer peripheral surface of the sloped wall section are arranged projecting stepped ridges provided in a radial pattern at circumferential intervals so as to extend from the small-diameter end to the large-diameter end of the sloped wall section. The front ends of the stepped ridges are positioned at a side surface end of the engagement recess. The crest surface of each ridge is sloped toward the side surface end of the engagement recess to form a first slope surface, and both side surfaces of each ridge which hold the first slope surface is also sloped to form second and third slope surfaces. As a result, the front end of each ridge has these three slope surfaces.</p>
