<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce operation noise of a starter in an automatic start of an engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an idle stop system, during operation of the starter in the automatic start of the engine, noise waveform information of the starter depending on operational statuses of the vehicle is calculated from a map or the like, and target waveform information of intake noise is calculated so that a waveform of the intake noise is in opposite phase of the noise waveform. Actual waveform information of the intake noise is detected based on output of airflow meter, and an intake noise adjusting mechanism is feedback-controlled so that the actual waveform information of the intake noise matches the target waveform information to feedback-control the intake noise adjusting mechanism so that the waveform of the intake noise is in opposite phase of the noise waveform of the starter. Therefore, without influence of individual difference between systems or secular change, the intake noise adjusting mechanism is accurately feedback-controlled so that the waveform of the intake noise is in opposite phase of the noise waveform of the starter to cancel out the operation noise of the starter by the intake noise.
