<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating device of a belt-like member and a program for highly accurately detecting the occurrence of breakage of the ring-like belt-like member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rotating device of the belt-like member determines whether an intermediate transfer belt 16 is broken by determining whether a change amount per unit time of a measured result due to an edge sensor 60 for measuring a position, in the belt width direction of a belt side end of the ring-like intermediate transfer belt 16 used in a rotated state, and displays information indicating that the intermediate transfer belt 16 is broken, when it is determined that the intermediate transfer bet 16 is broken.
